its not that he is weaker, its that the upper realm ppl are stronger.... simple analogy, compare it to game progression.
lower realm = lvl. 1
upper realm = lvl. 2

u do know Shi hao cannot use most of his techniques as it will reveal his true identity, currently he can only use the lightening and phoenix Techniques, thank heavens for the furnace and his physical strength, if he cannot fight at full capacity, fighting smart is d best option.

to clarify the Stone Golem is not an artifact and also the caterpillar is not an artifact the Stone Golem can cultivate and it's the last race of it's kind and it's in his lowest realm when Shi Hao meet him and he choose to follow Shi Hao than to roam into mount Buo lao just to be bullied by the strong monsters, and Shi Hao manage to experience the expertise of the golem to any Formation and Script rune, and the Caterpillar is the Divine creature once transform into it's last form then can fight God and it can cultivate only the Cauldron and the Pin Dagger are the artifacts he used here to make his power widen the area damage.
